Mazda launches the all new version for the Mazda5 MPV. The new version has no significant change in the body shape the new Mazda5 MPV is 400cc less powerful than its predecessor yet surprisingly quicker. Mazda has made changes to the new 1.6 litre Diesel engine in a way to make sure the power increases by increasing the horsepower by 5Bhp. The car can now surpass 60mph in just 13.7 seconds. By keeping the engine just 1.6 litres the car will be much more fuel efficient and Mazda expects this new 1.6 variant to significantly increase the sales of its Mazda5 MPV. This will also help the consumers cut down on their insurance cost.
The new variant comes with a manual six speed transmission and along with 400cc less power this will also be 47kgs less than the older version. These two factors increases the fuel efficiency by almost fifteen percent and also proves greener to the environment as the emissions are reduced to 138g/km which is almost thirty percent lesser than the old one. With the new launch Mazda is hoping to increase sales by about thirty percent expecting to sell close to 2500 Mazda5 MPV’s this year. Out of the entire MPV division in UK, Mazda has a market close to 3 to 4 percent which is not steady and is fading taking in account the new competition of SUV’s and crossover vehicles in the same segment. Similar launch of such vehicles in this segment is likely to amplify the sales of the entire segment giving boost to each of the automobile companies in this segment.
